Durum ilgeçlerinden kimi örnekler: by bus, by train, by plane, on foot, on a train. İlgeçlerle
ilgili kimi önemli notlar:
a) Kimi sözcüklerle belli ilgeçler kullanılır (ilgili bölüme bkz.) Örn. afraid of, angry with, look at, apologize
for, married to, prevent from, agree with vb.
b) İlgeçlerden sonra eylemin -ing biçimi kullanılır.
Before going to school, he had his breakfast. Me is afraid of going out in the dark.
c) Türkçe’deki kullanımının tersine kimi sözcüklerle ilgeç kullanılmaz:
discuss, marry, lack, go home
d) next, last, this, every, each, some, any, all ile başlayan zaman zarflarından önce ilgeç kullanılmaz:
next Monday, all night, this Friday
e) Sıfat tümceciklerinde, edilgen yapıda, what, who, where soru sözcükleri bulunan yapılarda ilgeçler tümce sonunda kullanılabilir:
